The second stage will begin with the connection of the first tank, according to statements by the head of the investment area, Liber Sams Toledo.
According to their statements, “the specialized force exists and the required materials and inputs are available” to erect the new structure.
Although its diameter is slightly smaller, it is a tank very similar to the ones demolished, “but in conditions to operate the fuels with greater safety, since it will also have an underground electrical system.”
The distance between them will be about 110 meters, almost four times greater than the previous one. And “it will be reinforced with earth covered with concrete, a quality that prevents the collapse of that structure when it is attacked by fire.”
Just as it will have more powerful foam cannons, and a new position for firefighters in case of emergency, established at a greater distance from the container.
The non-existence of all elements, essential in places like this, led to the magnitude of the accident last August at the Supertanker Base, where 146 people were injured and 17 died, including 14 firefighters, whose bodies could not be identified. .
