The Montevideo port will have another this milestone this Thursday when the ship docks Rio de Janeiro Express of the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd. It is a ship with a capacity of 13,312 teus, what will it be the container ship with the greatest cargo capacity of all those that have arrived at the port of Montevideo. The ship, 335 meters long and 51 meters wide, will dock at Terminal Cuenca del Plata (TCP).
“The largest arrives at the port of Montevideo,” tweeted the official account of the National Ports Administration (ANP) with a photo of the ship.
The Hapag-Lloyd company, of German origin, is the fifth largest shipping company in the world. It has a fleet of 253 ships, annually transports 11.9 million TEUs (a unit equivalent to a 20-foot container) and has 14,300 employees in 400 offices distributed in 137 countries.
Last October 25 also the ship Amazon of the shipping company ONE (Ocean Network Express). It is a new ship that operates on the route of Far East and that it began to operate in August of this year. It is 329 meters long and has a cargo capacity of 11,923 teus (a unit of measurement equivalent to a 20-foot container).
