The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation received 65 trials of nonconformity against the election of two magistrates of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), derived from the judicial elections. These resources were filed by different citizens, two candidates, the Civil Organization National Strategic Litigation Council and even the National Action Party.
In total, they add at least 67 resources of this type presented before the highest court. However, one was already discarded last Tuesday because the Court clarified that the law allows them to promote them only to those who were candidates, so it is expected that the majority will be discarded.
The resources, published yesterday in judicial lists, were admitted to processing by Minister President, Norma Lucía Piña, and, due to their volume, were distributed among the nine ministers for their resolution.
The Court should resolve these matters before August 31, so it is expected that the Plenary analyzes them on August 12, in its last session of the current integration, before concluding functions to give way to the new ministers, which will assume on September 1.
Among the new judgments are two prominent: Luis Eduardo Jiménez Martínez and Samuel Manuel Mercado Ramos, who were candidates for circuit magistrate and a district judge, respectively.
The challenge of both focuses on the agreements of the General Council of the National Electoral Institute, on the summaries of votes that led to declare the validity and deliveries of majority proof to choose Gilberto de Guzmán and Claudia Valle as elected magistrates of the Superior Chamber.
