This Wednesday, February 1, José Gabriel Carrizo presented his formal resignation from the position of Minister of the Presidency as of that date; however, he will maintain the constitutional position of Vice President of the Republic, with the functions assigned to him by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, including continuing to attend the Cabinet Council sessions with the right to speak.
The announcement was made by President Cortizo at the conclusion of the Cabinet Council meeting on Wednesday, in the presence of all the ministers and vice-ministers of State.
Carrizo Jaén thanked the president for the opportunity to have been a minister of the presidency “and his daily teachings: teamwork, courage in making difficult decisions, doing the right thing and teaching us that in politics the most important thing is to have a purpose, defend the interests of the country and be useful to those most in need.
It is important to point out that with his resignation, Carrizo will be able to formally start his political campaign in search of the candidacy for president for the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).
Let’s remember that the PRD primary elections will take place on June 11, 2023, and according to reports from the Carrizo collective, he could announce his candidacy next Sunday, February 5.
