The Dominican Episcopate Conference has summoned the parishioners to participate in a national concentration, this Monday, August 15, at the Olympic Stadiumstarting at 8 in the morning to celebrate the closing of the Altagracian Jubilee Year, on the occasion of the centenary of the coronation of Our Lady of Altagracia.
In other words, one day before the celebration of the day of the Restoration of the Republic.
Therefore, today we show you some of the activities that will be carried out according to the program offered by the Dominican Episcopate Conference.

Program Sunday August 14:
12:00 p.m. Mass in the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Altagracia, presided over by the delegate of the Holy Father, Monsignor Edgar Peña Parra, and concelebrated by bishops and priests, with the participation of pilgrims from Los Toros and the Altagracia Rally, which will accompany the image of the Virgin of Altagracia towards Santo Domingo.
3:00 pm Departure of the Virgin from Higüey to Santo Domingo, accompanied by bishops, priests and a caravan of vehicles.
6:00 pm Reception of the image of the Virgin in the Fray Antonio de Montesinos Monument. Mons. Jesús Castro, bishop of Our Lady of Altagracia in Higüey, delivers the image of the Virgin to the archbishop of Santo Domingo, Mons. Francisco Ozoria, accompanied by his auxiliary bishops and faithful. Next, he begins the procession to the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady Santa María de la Encarnación.
8:00 pm In the Vigil-Serenade Cathedral dedicated to the Virgin; and transmitted by different communication platforms nationally and internationally until 6:00 am
Program for Monday, August 15:
6:00 am Rosario de la Aurora from the Cathedral to the Santuario Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia in the Colonial City, a temple built in 1922 as a reminder of the coronation.
At the Count’s Gate:
8:00 am Patriotic Act coordinated by municipal, governmental and legislative authorities, and the Centennial Organizing Commission (Rendition of honors, Altagracia proclamation, floral offerings, words by the delegate of the Holy Father and the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader).
In this place, on August 15, 1922, the canonical coronation of the Virgin of Altagracia as Queen and Sovereign of the Dominican people took place, and sealed her commitment of love and struggle for the defense of national sovereignty.
From the Puerta del Conde, the image of the Virgin moves to the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, where the faithful will already be gathered.

7:00 am Religious acts begin in honor of the Virgen de la Altagracia.
8:00 am Marian concert.
9:30 am The Dominican people welcome the Virgin of Altagracia.
10:00 a.m. Solemn Eucharistpresided over by the delegate of the Holy Father, Msgr. Edgar Peña Parra, Substitute for General Affairs of the Vatican Secretariat of State, and concelebrated by the Dominican bishops and international guests, as well as priests from all over the country.
Gift delivery: The Holy Father gives a golden rose to the Virgin of Altagracia and the bishops give Pope Francis an image of Our Lady of Altagracia in high relief.
12:00 p.m. Farewell to the image of Our Lady of Altagracia on her return to Higüey.

In the afternoon hours. Reception in Higuey. Procession to the Basilica and solemn Eucharist in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the Cathedral-Basilica.
At night there will be a great Marian concert in the Plaza de la Basílica; and a fireworks display will be offered to close the celebrations of the Altagracian Jubilee Year.
Wednesday, August 17. 7:00 pm Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Altagracia, in the Colonial City, on the centenary of her consecration. The delegate of the Holy Father presides, concelebrated by several bishops.
Memory of this Centenary
The construction of temple in Hoyoncitowhere everything related to Altagracia began, will be the material memory of the centenary, with which we will inaugurate “The Path of Altagracia”, such as the “Camino de Santiago” starting at the Cristo de los Milagros de Bayaguana, Hoyoncito, Hato Mayor, La Cruz del Seibo up to the Sanctuary and the Basilica of Higüey. The spiritual memory will be a Dominican people more renewed in its spiritual and patriotic values.
