“I couldn’t stop, at this moment, being here putting our differences aside. I have always spoken with President Bolsonaro. We know that in many things we converge and in others we do not, but it is the moment when Brazil needs to move forward and I believe much more in President Bolsonaro’s proposal than in the opponent’s proposal”, said Zema.

According to Bolsonaro, he intends to go to Minas Gerais at least three times, on campaign agendas. One of them is already confirmed: a religious meeting on the 12th.

“This support from Governor Zema is very welcome. It is the second state that has the largest electoral college in Brazil and it is decisive, only those who win there, according to tradition, can really reach the Presidency of the Republic, so there is this interest of mine [pelo apoio],” Bolsonaro said. “Zema enjoys great credibility given the administration he has done and this support is decisive. In Minas Gerais we will have a good difference to the opponent”, he added.

At the first round of elections, candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva obtained 48.29% of the valid votes in Minas Gerais. Bolsonaro got 43.6% of the electorate’s preference.

For the second round, Bolsonaro has already talked to other re-elected governors in search of support, such as Cláudio Castro, from Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Caiado, from Goiás, and Ratinho Júnior, from Paraná.

Among the presidential candidates who were defeated in the first round, Bolsonaro said that Father Kelmon (PTB) has a very great symbolic value for his candidacy and is also looking for that support. “Although he had a very small vote, he is a person who showed that Christians have to be respected in Brazil and in the world,” he said.

13 of the Aid Brazil

The candidate for reelection, Jair Bolsonaro, also said that, in addition to an Auxílio Brasil of R$ 600, starting next year, he will pay a 13th installment of the program for women. According to him, 17 million women will benefit.

“Let’s keep this value [R$ 600] already guaranteed, we have source for these resources. And, starting next year, the 13th edition of Auxílio Brasil, in addition to helping the poorest and most needy people, helps with the income of municipalities and the states themselves. I dare say that largely what helped the economy not to collapse during the pandemic was the R$600 Emergency Aid,” he said.
