Puerto Plata.- Started the event international Formula Kite Grand Prix 2022where they occur quote the best representatives of this sports discipline, the activity is an effort of the Dominican Sailing Federation with the endorsement of the International Formula Kite Association. A discipline for which the Dominican Republic is preparing, with the aim of participating as a country in the 2024 Olympic Games.
The first 3 days will be competed in the open sea, all the athletes together, and on Sunday it will be inside the bay very close to the coast in the Gold, Silver and female divisions, the athletes with the best scores will compete for the 1st three places in the gold category.

In the 1st qualifying men’s category, Tiger Tyson from Antigua advances with the best score in 1st place, followed by Valentin Bontus from Austria in 2nd place and Dominican Alex Soto in 3rd place.
In the women’s category, Kirstyn O’Brien USA advances in 1st place, Kimberley Rijsbergen Holland in 2nd position and Marina Vodisek from Slovenia occupying 3rd place.
The directors of the Dominican Sailing Federation are very grateful for the support and backing that the sports community, the Dominican press and the government have shown so far in relation to the development of this sport as a global tourist attraction.
“We have in Cabarete the best conditions to develop this sport and we are preparing ourselves as a country so that the athletes of this discipline represent us in the next Olympic Games and also make the DR a world attraction to practice this type of sport” Added Raúl Aguayo Vice President of the Federation.
From 11:00 am tomorrow, Friday, the event will have a live DJ and on Sunday the 13th, the Regatta will move to the shores of the beach, for the enjoyment of all spectators, from the Villa Taina hotel area and thanks to the support from the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Hotal Villa Taína, DOMICEN, Industrias San Miguel, Viva Whyndam, Frank’s, Cemex, Curly Love, Industrias Aguayo, Carib Wind, and FEDOVELA.
