The Dominican Republic, through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM), is the headquarters of the Third Symposium on Semiconductors of the Alliance for Economic Prosperity in the Americas (APEP).
The activity titled: Financing and Venture Capital, takes place on January 16 and 17, 2025, a key event that brings together government leaders, businessmen and international organizations to debate the future of this strategic industry.
Organized jointly with the United States Department of Statethe symposium addresses critical topics such as innovation, financing and sustainability in the supply chain of semiconductors. This effort seeks to position the countries of the region as relevant actors in an essential sector for modern technology.
The event began with the welcome words of the ambassador Lisa Kubiskeofficial representative of APEP, who highlighted the importance of regional collaboration to strengthen this key industry.
For her part, Amy Holman, acting assistant secretary of the Bureau of Economic and Trade Affairs of the United States Department of State, offered an overview of the impact of the semiconductorss in the economies of the Americas.
Minister Víctor -Ito- Bisonó closed the inaugural session with a keynote conference in which he highlighted the importance of regional integration to be part of global supply chains and presented the progress of the Dominican Republic in the formulation of its National Strategy to Promote the Industry of Semiconductors (ENFIS).
“The Dominican Republic is strategically positioned to integrate into the global value chains of semiconductors. We have experience in advanced manufacturing, first-class logistics infrastructure and a stable economic environment,” highlighted the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó.
Featured topics at the symposium
The event agenda includes presentations and panels on trends in the semiconductorsstrategies to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and the impact of public policies on the financing of this sector.
- In addition, successful case studies will be analyzed and opportunities for collaboration with the private sector.
Technology experts and government representatives will discuss the role of sustainability in the production and financing of semiconductorspromoting the integration of responsible practices in the region.
