The cancellation of the activities of the Venezuelan group occurs two days after the ruler Nicolás Maduro publicly questioned the song “Veneka”
The Cusica production company reported on the night of Tuesday, December 3, that, for reasons beyond its control, the “Who Brings the Cornets World Tour?” and the fourth edition of the Cusica Fest music festival were cancelled. The band, which planned to close its world tour in its country of origin, said goodbye: “it was nice while it could be.”
The cancellation of the activities of the Venezuelan group occurs two days after the ruler Nicolás Maduro publicly questioned the song “Veneka.”
«The women of Venezuela are called dignity, they are called respect and they are called Venezuelan. “They are not Venekas, they are not Venekas, they are Venezuelans!” commented Maduro.
Likewise, the president pointed out that the group “didn’t mess it up, it messed it up” by composing an “insulting,” “disparaging” and “horrible” song.
According to the band members, the song, released on October 20 with elements of changa and raptor house, makes an effort to redefine a word that for a few years has been used to disqualify Venezuelan migrants in different countries.
Venues disassociate themselves from Rawayana concerts
Prior to the cancellation of the “Who’s Bringing the Cornets?” tour, four of the venues, where the band would perform, issued statements in which they distanced themselves from the project. All of them stated that they had no knowledge of the organization of the concert, nor did they have contracts or a contract request.
«We want to inform you that the event titled ‘Rawayana brings the bugles‘for the date December 19, 2025, will not take place in the facilities of the Tibisay Hotel del Lago. We wish to clarify that there is no commercial agreement between our hotel, the event producer or the aforementioned artists,” they said in a published note.
For its part, the Sambil San Cristóbal issued a statement in which they reported that they do not have any space rental contracts for the Rawayana concert at the Sambil Amphitheater location. “We do not have a commercial agreement for new dates.”
The Coremer board of directors also spoke about the activity that would be carried out in Mérida. «…We inform that we have not received any type of formal request (contract) for the execution of the concert called ‘Who brings the cornets, Rawayana 2024’, for this reason the Plaza de Toros Román Eduardo Sandia and Coremer make it clear that they have not been carried out the pertinent diligence for the contracting of the space.
The Marea Beach Club, in Anzoátegui, like the other establishments, specified that: “We do not have any type of contractual relationship or formal request for a contract for the execution of the concert ‘who brings the cornets of Rawayana 2024’ to be held in our facilities, as has been promoted by different social networks and media”
After the statements from the companies and the thousands of doubts from the band’s fans, Cusica announced not only the cancellation of the Tour, but also the suspension of the fourth edition of the Cusica Fest, which would be held on December 7.
The production company reported that starting December 4 they will publish on their social networks the steps for 100% refunds of tickets for both events.
Concert cancellations
The closing of Rawayana’s tour and the Cusica Fest music festival joins the long list of concerts and festivals canceled this year. Marc Anthony, Flor Bertotti, Silvana Estrada, Morat, Aventura, Young Miko, Noreh, Miranda!, the Love is Love Festival and the Saca El Pecho Fest, are some of the events suspended after the controversial presidential elections on July 28.
These cancellations occur in a similar way to what happened with Luis Fonsi in 2022, when, after criticism from Diosdado Cabello, the suspension of his concert in Venezuela was announced, although the singer stated that it was due to “problems with logistics.
Diosdado Cabello said on his television program that “he can come, in Venezuela we don’t have those things, but it can never and never be taken away from him that he is immoral. These people charged for what they said, because now with their very clean faces they now come to Venezuela.
He made similar comments about the singer Juanes, whom he called “immoral” and accused him of coming to Venezuela only for money. “You sang at a concert where they asked to invade Venezuela and now you come because you love Venezuelans,” he commented when referring to the Colombian’s participation in Live Aid in 2019.
