The Minister of Economy, Raúl Pérez-Reyesdenied having participated in an irregular negotiation to award the Special Project Olmos Tinajones (PEOT) to the company IAGESA SAC.
His pronouncement was given after the dissemination of an audio by the president of the Congress Supervision Commission, Juan Burgos, in which Saúl Yábar, manager of the company, would imply the head of the MEF.
In the audio, Yábar is heard to affirm that he talked with Pérez-Reyes and with former Minister José Salardi to facilitate the contract through an emergency decree. However, Pérez-Reyes described the statements as false and announced that he will initiate legal actions against the businessman, as well as against Ranjiro Nakano, executive director of the PEOT.
“[Quiero] Expressing my absolute rejection of the statements made by this Mr. Saúl Yábar, whom I do not know, with whom I have never met in public or privately and who are going to denounce civilly and criminally for the statements he has made with Mr. Nakano, ”he told Panorama.
The minister called “Patraña” the accusation of Yábar and assured that the accusation has been an answer to the meeting he held with Nakano and members of the Regional Assembly of Lambayeque, in which it was decided that the contract with Novonor (former Odebrecht) will not be renewed, to carry out the lemon dam and the transfer.
“Who will assume, as of September 2025, it is the Special Olmos Tinajones project of the Regional Government of Lambayeque. That is what we have remained on Thursday, we have all met,” he said.
“I am going to ask Mr. Nakano, to explain how it is possible for him to have this conversation and then meet with me and do not tell me any of it. That is, if they were raising an act of corruption, who should have questioned is me and I would have said that this is false. What they are looking for is to disqualify the person who is just questioning the Odebrecht contract, that I am, he added.
