Liverpool drew 1-1 with Tottenham at Anfield and became provisional leader, but dropped two points that could be decisive in the fight with Manchester City for the title, this Saturday in matchday 36 of the Premier League.

The game reached the break with a score of zero despite the multiple chances created by the ‘Reds’ in the final stretch. Going through the changing rooms felt better for Tottenham, who took the lead through a goal by Son Heung-min (56′).
Liverpool managed to equalize thanks to a shot from Colombian Luis Díaz (74′) but were unable to achieve the victory that would have once again increased the pressure on Manchester City (momentarily 2nd).
Provisionally tied on points, those led by Jürgen Klopp will sleep on Saturday as leaders due to the best goal difference (+64 against +63 for City), but they will be able to give up first place on Sunday if Pep Guardiola’s team score against Newcastle in Miguel Almiron.
The result does not favor Tottenham (5th) much in the fight for Champions League positions either, since it is one point behind Arsenal (4th), a difference that could be increased if the ‘Gunners’ meet on Sunday against Leeds.
– Chelsea let the victory slip away at the last breath –
Chelsea (3rd) also failed to get all three points and let victory slip away after a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton (8th).
After a goalless first half, Chelsea surged to victory with two goals from Romelu Lukaku in less than two minutes (56′ penalty and 58′). The ‘Wolves’, who never disconnected from the match, reacted thanks to an unstoppable shot from outside the area by the Portuguese Francisco Trincao (79′) and equalized on the last play of the match, with a cross into the area that Conor Coady finished off with a header (90+7′).
The ‘Blues’, who had announced hours before the game the sale of Roman Abramovich’s club to the consortium led by the American Todd Boehly, have now gone three consecutive games without winning and have won just one victory in their last five championship games (2 draws and 2 defeats), a bleeding of points that has allowed Arsenal and Tottenham to threaten their third place and complicate the ‘Blues’ in the remaining days.
– Manchester United is left without Champions –
Worse luck befell Manchester United (6th), thrashed 4-0 on their visit to Brighton (9th). The seagulls dominated the ‘Red Devils’ throughout the game and went into the break ahead thanks to a powerful shot from Moisés Caicedo (15′). Brighton continued to dominate after the dressing room, creating more chances that were rewarded with goals from Spaniard Marc Cucurella (49′), Pascal Gross (57′) and Leandro Trossard (60′).
With this defeat, United are mathematically out of the Champions League positions and their participation in the Europa League is still not guaranteed when they only have one game left to play.
