The Board of Directors of the Democratic Change party (CD) ratified the decision to expel and revoke the mandate of the 15 dissident deputies who went against the party line.
Abraham Carrasquilla, director of the Board of Directors of the CD, explained that it was with 11 votes in favor and one against that they decided to remove the deputies who had committed treason against the party.
The deputies who were expelled are Yanibel Abrego, Arnulfo Díaz de León, Nelson Palma, Marylin Vallarino, Hernán Delgado, Lilia Batista, José Herrera, Alaín Cedeño, Leopoldo Archibold, Abelardo Quijano, Dalia Bernal, Génesis Arjona, Mayín Correa, Mercedes Galvez, Mauricel Agrazal.
During the meeting, deputies Yanibel Abrego and Dalia Bernal were removed from the meeting despite being part of the board of directors. Given this Ábrego said that he did not agree with the party president Rómulo Roux participating in this decision because he had publicly given his position on the case and was in favor of removing them from the party.
“This was a flawed process from the beginning and we ask the president not to continue with this outburst against the 15 deputies who represent more than 200,000 registered in Cambio Democrático,” he said, assuring that Roux does not think about the population, he only thinks in your interests.
Dana Castañeda, undersecretary of the Board of Directors of the CD, and the only vote in favor, said that this action is political suicide for the party and assured that this process was carried out to remove Yanibel Ábrego, who had already shown her interest in going to the primaries against Rómulo Roux.
