Raquel Peña: “El Gobierno seguirá actuando con firmeza y transparencia por la seguridad del país”

Santo Domingo.– The vice president of the Republic, Raquel Penaled this Monday the follow-up meeting to the Citizen Security Planwith the aim of evaluating progress, results and new strategies aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens throughout the national territory.

The meeting, held in Hall of the Officers’ Club of the National Police Palaceis part of the continuous monitoring that the Government maintains to consolidate the policies of prevention, response and inter-institutional coordination in matters of public safety.

During the session, Peña highlighted that this joint effort “reflects the Government’s will to continue acting with firmness, closeness and transparency, so that the population lives with confidence and peace in each community of the country”.

The vice president was accompanied by the Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful; he Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre; the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso; he Army Commander Generalmajor general Jorge Iván Camino Pérez; he director of the National Policemajor general Ramon Antonio Guzman Peralta; he Vice Minister of the Presidency for Special Projects and Security Coordination, Roger G. Pujols; and the president of the Technical Commission for the Reform of the Educational System of the National Police, teacher Mu-Kien Adriana Sang Ben.

They also participated president of the National Drug Council (CND), Alejandro de Jesús Abreu; the directors of the Military and Police Commission (Comipol)colonel Luis Rafael Herrera Almonte; of the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett)general Pascual Cruz Mendez; of the Tourism Police (Politur)general Minoru Matsunaga; of the National Emergency Assistance System 9-1-1pilot colonel Randolfo Rijo; and of Internal Affairs of the National Policegeneral Werner Núñez Quezada.

Also attended by Director of School Policegeneral Francisco Osoria de la Cruz; he Director General of Prisons, Roberto Hernandez Basilio; he Executive Commissioner for Police Reform, Luis Ernesto García Hernandez; and representatives of the Armed Forces, including the paratrooper colonel Osvaldo W. Montero Menafor the Air Forceand the Captain Rafael García Aybarfor the Dominican Republic Navy.

Also participated prosecutors commission headed by Rosalba Ramos (National District), Ramona Santana (Saint Christopher), Aura Luz García (La Vega), Juan Antonio Mateo Ciprián (María Trinidad Sánchez), Claudia Garrido (La Altagracia), Suleyka Mateo (San Pedro de Macoris) and Smaily Yamel Rodríguez (Duarte), along with the holders of Santo Domingo East, West, Valverde, Hermanas Mirabal, Barahona, Peravia, Dajabón, Espaillat and La Romana.

At the end of the day, the adoption of new inter-institutional coordination measuresin compliance with the Government’s commitment to strengthen citizen security, public trust and social peace throughout the country.
