Raquel Peña leads the inaugural act of paving 82 streets in the Cachón de la Rubia sector

Santo Domingo.- The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, together with the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, led this Sunday the inaugural act of paving 82 streets in the Cachón de la Rubia sector, Santo Domingo Este municipality, as well as the construction and reconstruction of streets, sidewalks and curbs, speed bumps and scuppers, in an area of ​​17.2 square kilometers of that sector and Guayubín Olivo Street.

The vice president said that for years the residents of that community had been demanding the repair of their streets, as well as the sidewalks and curbs, “and today we are here on behalf of our president Luis Abinader and Minister Deligne Ascención, responding to that call.” .

He maintained that this important work is the result of the union of the communities and the will to serve of the current government. Likewise, each community leader expressed the feelings of the sector, “and is part of this achievement, and deserves the recognition and admiration of all of us.”

He stated that the adaptation of the streets, including Fray Bartolomé Colón and Madre Petra, facilitates transportation to the main schools, to jobs, to markets, and serves to connect people, and continue strengthening to the community that benefits from the delivery of these works.

“Our government, under the leadership of President Abinader, is extremely committed to the comprehensive development of all, as well as bringing dignity to each Dominican home,” He spoke in front of the attendees, among them dozens of community leaders and members of neighborhood associations.

He said that the Cachón de la Rubia project is part of a great effort that seeks to open the doors of great opportunities for growth in all the provinces of the country.

While Minister Ascención highlighted that the improvement and restoration of the streets of Cachón de la Rubia had an investment of 260 million 662 thousand pesos.

He said that these works, which also included the solution to the critical point of Del Cachón Street, near Lucerna, will help improve vehicular traffic and security conditions in the area, “benefiting its residents, giving them a decent life and a better transportation route for their daily lives.”

He explained that the works delivered are part of the Greater Santo Domingo Asphalting Plan, which is being carried out “fulfilling a dream of President Luis Abinader, whose purpose lies in turning this municipality into a modern city, with large avenues, multiple housing projects and clean and paved streets.”

“These works will contribute to the urban development of this sector and will give life to the Mirador Manantiales del Cachón de la Rubia Park, classified as a natural reserve, which represents the lung of the city of Santo Domingo Este, and which is located on the Ozama River, with an area of ​​1.9 square kilometers.”

He recalled that this park was created by decree of March 20, 2002 by the then president Hipólito Mejía, to safeguard a place that feeds the Ozama River with its waters, and guarantees the permanence of fauna and flora appreciated by the residents of the community. .

“Over time this area has been growing in urban terms, although its streets were in poor condition, without sidewalks or barriers, predominating unhealthiness, mud or dust, typical of a neglected and suburbanized urbanity,” he recalled.

The blessing of the works was carried out by priest Ricardo de la Rosa, from the La Dolorosa church, who said that for two years the community had been demanding the asphalt, among other works.

The provincial governor, Lucrecia Santana Leyba, referred to the benefits that these works bring to the residents, while community member Anicacio Bautista expressed that the community is very grateful for what has been achieved.

Also attending the event were the mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Dío Astacio; the vice ministers of Public Works Roberto Herrera and Mélito Santana; the director of Road Paving, Joan Sabino, the contractor Freddy Vladimir Roa, among others.
