San Cristóbal – The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, headed this Sunday the delivery of four works valued at RD$ 320,220,050 that will impact several communities of Pedro Brand and Villa Altagracia in sports, health, education and housing.
These include the remodeling of a sports complex in La Cuaba, the delivery of 90 apartments of the Happy Family Plan, the Flor de Loto 2 Residential Project, the opening of the Villa Altagracia emergency room and the inauguration of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña Elementary School.
At the start of her agenda of inaugurations, Raquel Peña assured that the government headed by President Luis Abinader will not stop responding to the needs of every Dominican man and woman.

“We will continue to work to improve every corner of our country, ensuring that every community has access to facilities and infrastructure that promote well-being and comprehensive development so that the entire country can prosper,” he said.
Sport
The day began in the municipal district of La Cuaba, where the vice president, accompanied by the president of the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development, Ángel de la Cruz, inaugurated sports facilities equipped with a baseball field and a basketball court.
The sports facilities were rebuilt for an amount of RD$ 25,004,264.84 destined for the renovation of the court and the remodeling of the field with an area of approximately 6,700 m2, double stands made of reinforced concrete and roofed, two dug-outs and their respective bathrooms and perimeter fence.
Both authorities agreed on the importance of promoting this type of work that encourages healthy recreation for children and young people in the communities.
Raquel Peña stressed that sport is not only a physical activity, but also teaches discipline, encourages teamwork and builds values that are essential for success in life.
Dwelling
Peña then handed over the keys that will open the new homes of 90 families, as part of the National Happy Family Housing Plan.
The homes correspond to the Flor de Loto II Residential, located in the Pedro Brand municipality, a project developed by the construction company Coninver, with an investment of more than 195 million, of which the Ministry of Women allocated the sum of RD$2,000,000 through the Women’s Bonus, which benefited ten heads of household.
Health
Likewise, as part of this Sunday’s commitments, the vice-president also inaugurated the expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department of the Villa Altagracia Municipal Hospital, for the benefit of more than 97 thousand residents of the municipality.
The hospital complex developed by the National Health Service (SNS), directed by Mario Lama,
The work included improvements to the drinking water system, drainage, installation of aseptic floors, repair of leaks and waterproofing of the roof.
The electrical system was also modernized, with the installation of a new power supply from the main panel and a transformer for X-rays. In addition, the stainless steel equipment and air conditioning were updated and new signage was installed.
The investment of more than ten million pesos has allowed the creation of a more efficient space with triage areas, X-rays, three medication, dressing and suturing stations, a trauma office, a trauma shock room, an observation area with four cubicles, and it also has billing, a waiting room and an office for the person in charge of the Emergency Room.
Education
Raquel Peña also inaugurated the Pedro Henríquez Ureña educational center in Villa Altagracia, which will benefit more than 300 elementary school students.
