Raquel Peña delivers expansion of the Villa Altagracia Municipal Emergency Hospital

Saint Christopher. – The Vice President Rachel Peña, Together with the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama, they delivered this Sunday the expanded and renovated Emergency at Villa Altagracia Municipal Hospitalfor the benefit of more than 97 thousand residents of the municipality.

The head of the SNS, Dr. Mario Lamaexplained that the delivery of the expanded Emergency is part of the strengthening of public health services, “Today, apart from celebrating the completion of a work, we also renew the commitment to the well-being of this community and to each one of the Dominicans, that is why we announce that the bidding processes for the renovations of the two hospitals in Villa Altagracia are in progress.”

He also reported that starting this Monday, referrals from the Emergency Unit inaugurated today will be received at the Santo Domingo, Rodolfo de la Cruz Lora and Vinicio Calventi hospitals, to reduce the transfer time for patients.

Lama also explained the details of the work carried out during the emergency, including improvements to the drinking water system, drainage, installation of aseptic floors, repair of leaks and waterproofing of the roof.

The electrical system was also modernized, with the installation of a new power supply from the main panel and a transformer for X-rays. In addition, the stainless steel equipment and air conditioning have been updated and new signage has been installed.

The investment of more than ten million pesos has allowed the creation of a more efficient space with triage areas, X-rays, three medication stations, cure and suture, a trauma office, a trauma shock room, an observation area with four cubicles, it also has a billing office, a waiting room and an office for the person in charge of the Emergency.

Also present at the event were the directors of the SNS for Infrastructure and Equipment, Alexander Ramírez; Nursing Care, Vilma Deyanira Galán; and Clinical Laboratories and Medical Imaging, Yoany Arias; the director of the Valdesia Regional Health Service, Marcelino Fulgencio; and the governor of San Cristóbal, Pura Casillas, among other local authorities.
