Vice President Raquel Peña and the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, delivered this Saturday around 100 million pesos to municipalities of Samana to continue promoting the development of the province hit by the hurricane Fiona.
Upon her arrival, the official held a discussion with the local authorities of Las Galeras and representatives of the agricultural sector, affected by Fiona’s passage, from whom she listened to their concerns and responded to each one of them.
During the activity, held in the front area of the town hall, Peña stated that until all the homes affected by the hurricane are restored, the public entities involved will not stop working for the benefit of those affected, and with it, faithfully comply with the president’s directives.
“The instructions are that, until the last house is finished, we will continue working. This is a sign of commitment, because thanks to the president’s instructions we have come to verify the damage from the hurricane and deliver other demands that have been requested through the Ministry of the Presidency, because the government has an ear in the heart of each one of you,” said the official.
The deputy president thanked the Administrative Minister of the Presidency because he has taken on the task of accompanying all the authorities to comply with everything requested by President Abinader.
He stated that the Minister of Agriculture has already been in Samana doing a survey, so they have begun to deliver aid to farmers.
“I understand that about 50 farmers have already been benefited with RD$1,000 per task and through the Agricultural Bank we have zero-rate loans,” he said.
He said that on Monday he will have a meeting with the minister in question to verify the status and in this way, address the situation as soon as possible so that they can have their crops and productions active.
Tour of the communities
Continuing with her agenda, the vice president went to the El Francés neighborhood to visit the de la Rosa family, who during the hurricane Fiona They lost their roof and part of their house. At that time, President Luis Abinader, after carrying out an uprising in the area, ordered the reconstruction of the home, which was also furnished.
The vice president also toured the Jarro Sucio sector in the Tesón area, where she listened to the needs of the community and verified the help they have received through the Presidential Commission for Neighborhood Development, after the passage of the atmospheric phenomenon. After speaking with the townspeople, Peña decided to continue the infrastructure improvements of some houses and manage the requests of the community to continue improving the quality of life of each person.
Delivery of funds
Raquel Peña met at the Provincial Government of Samana with local authorities, PRM leaders and local service institutions, to listen to the needs of the province, detail the aid that has arrived and deliver resources to different communities.
The Administrative Minister of the Presidency indicated that the delivery of the checks has been a provision of President Luis Abinader and the Vice President to improve the quality of life of the working men and women of Samana.
“I am going to deliver, on behalf of President Luis Abinader and Raquel Peña, the certification of RD$20,663,367.60 for the construction of sidewalks, containers and stormwater management in the municipal district of Arroyo Barril.”
Similarly, the Civil Defense was given RD$2,670,525 for the purchase of a truck that will be used in the municipality of Sánchez.
Paliza indicated that when President Abinader visited the El Caimito community after the passage of Fionathe mayor requested the resources to intervene the roads of that community and, fulfilling what was promised, he was given 61 million pesos, “so that the city council immediately initiates the corresponding purchasing processes.”
The Administrative Minister assured that during the aforementioned visit, the president also instructed the management of heavy machinery such as a mechanical shovel and a dump truck for Sánchez, which will be used in the construction of highways and local roads and in rural communities. In compliance with that provision, this Saturday an amount of RD$18,522.80 was delivered. for the purchase of equipment.
The same way, A check for RD$950,000 was given to the Professor Ezequiel Pirón Academy, for the purchase of musical instruments that will be used by the children of the community who receive classes at the music school.
To end her tour of the province, the vice president visited the home of Pedro Pablo Acosta (Pablito), in El Caimito, in the Willmore neighborhood, whose home was repaired after the hurricane affected it and he was given a motor that He had petitioned the president to be able to support his family.
In the Samaná province, 2,359 houses have been rebuilt for people affected by the hurricane and more than 40,000 raw food rations have been delivered.
