“There is respect for our sovereignty, the right that every nation has to make decisions independently, without external interference, particularly when the well-being of Mexicans is at stake,” Buenrostro said before the plenary session of the Senate.
He added that the agency under his charge will defend both sovereignty and the trade treaties that Mexico has signed, such as the T-MEC, the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Pacific Alliance.
“The guiding principle of this international dialogue is respect for sovereignty will lead the way, around energy and food security and the interest in attracting investments that promote the greatest number of formal and specialized jobs; that allow the consolidation of a strong industrial and commercial policy, facing the challenges of the 21st century”, he added.
During her appearance, Raquel Buenrostro pointed out that factors such as the appearance of the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine have changed the scenario in recent years.
The foregoing, he stressed, had an impact on the global market and motivated the need to strengthen regional markets and supply chains in key commercial sectors for Mexico.
Secretary Buenrostro recalled that the Mexican government faced the emergency with support that was delivered through government programs.
