In the match in which Tacuarembó Fútbol Club tied with Villa Teresa and was promoted to the Second Professional Division last Sunday, Daniel López Moroy made a violent comment on the air, probably without realizing that the microphone was open, which led to a complaint of the deputies of the Broad Front (FA). “When I get out of that skinny girl, I’m going to kick her c… with a kick to the head,” said López Moroy when the screen showed the Tacuarembó players celebrating their promotion.
In the complaint filed by the left-wing party, they assure that López Moroy, “out loud, refers to a woman with offensive, violent, physically and sexually affirmations.” The document was signed by several legislators from the Broad Front such as Bettiana Díaz, Verónica Mato and Inés Cortés. “This is a clear example of media violence,” they add, and then cite Article 11 of Law 19,580, the Law on Gender-Based Violence Against Women.
Said legislation indicates that anyone who disseminates “messages and images […] that, directly or indirectly, promotes the exploitation of women or their images, insults, defames, discriminates, dishonors, humiliates or violates the dignity of women”.
