Giving away money in the streets has not been well received by the Cuban authorities when it is carried out by a national. The rapper’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, told the outlet TMZ about the incident that several men attacked his client while he was inside the gym facilities and that the artist was unable to defend himself.
The rapper, who was taken to a hospital by ambulance with cuts, a jaw injury and blows to his ribs and back, showed on social media how his face was left by the beating.
This incident is in addition to another that occurred recently during the World Baseball Classic game between Mexico and Puerto Rico, from which he was expelled for blocking the vision of other spectators, according to some media, allegedly impaired by alcohol intake.
The son of a Mexican and a Puerto Rican, although he was born in the US and lives in New York, at the age of 26, Tekashi has achieved great popularity, especially on Instagram, where he has more than 21 million followers.
However, his personal life is highly controversial. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to nine criminal charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, and agreed to a reduced sentence that led him to be released from prison in 2020, after having served a large part under house arrest due to the pandemic.
