Manahi Pakarati Novoa was appointed by the President-elect, Gabriel Boric, as General Director of Ceremonial and Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thus becoming the only foreign service diplomat belonging to the Rapanui people in the Government of the future President.
With a master’s degree in International Relations from the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and a degree in Library Science from the Metropolitan Technological University, she has vast experience in international matters, serving as Chilean consul in the oceanic country and in Mexico. She has also been a multilateral diplomat for Chile before the UN, in New York City.
The only Rapanui diplomat in the Chilean Foreign Service will be the new General Director of Ceremonial and Protocol. I have decided to appoint Manahi Pakarati, Librarian at UTEM and Master in International Relations from the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, to this position.
