The mass to dismiss the first corporal of the Carabineros Daniel Palma -murdered on Wednesday night in the middle of a police control- began after 10:00 am this Saturday in the Rancagua Cathedral, O’Higgins Region. A large number of people gathered around the enclosure and during the ceremony the general director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yanezannounced Palma’s posthumous promotion to non-commissioned officer.
“For his heroic action, for his commitment, vocation and dedication to the country, as a posthumous recognition, I have ordered an extraordinary promotion to the rank of non-commissioned officer of the Carabineros,” said General Director Yáñez.

“And not only that, but the Fourth Police Station of Santiago, that unit that has surrounded itself with the love and support of the community for which you gave your life, will change its name, in the next few days it will be the Fourth Police Station Chief Petty Officer Daniel Palma Yáñez,” he added.

Palma’s body was transferred from a funeral home, located at Alameda 1009, to the Rancagua Cathedral. At the ceremony, the brother of the deceased policeman called “parliamentarians, those who according to work legislating: do your job, because at this moment the poncho is too big for you. Harden the sentences.”
“It cannot be that a criminal has more rights than a police officer. This cannot continue, more respect is needed for this institution since many repudiate it and call them pacos,” he added.
After the mass, the remains were taken to Cemetery No. 2 for the funeral.
