During a national act of Democratic Action (AD), the general secretary of the party’s wing in resistance, Henry Ramos Allupbroke the silence and referred to various aspects of the organization and the opposition perspectives for the 2024 presidential elections.
“In AD there is no one baptized, everyone who wants to aspire, who aspires, who travels the country,” said Ramos Allup during the ceremony held at the headquarters of the College of Engineers, this Thursday, June 2.
“I want to see them traveling all over the country. Here not a single drop of blood is going to roll for the choice of the presidential candidate, “he emphasized to the leadership of his party.
Prior to the event, some sectors of the party and the opposition took it for granted that this sector of the white awning would announce the candidacy of the national secretary of organization, Carlos Prosperi, to the opposition primaries. However, Ramos Allup maintained, at the end of the event, that in addition to Prosperi, there are other candidates within the white awning.
“We are a very mature and very conscious party. Once we choose our candidate and present ourselves in the primaries, the entire party is going to throw in the rest, including the other candidates,” Ramos Allup assured, in a message within the organization.
In his speech, Ramos Allup maintained that his party will support whoever is elected as the opposition standard-bearer in the primaries that the Unitarian Platform has announced for 2023. Later, he pointed out that the primaries would be carried out by an electoral commission, “the Council will not govern National Electoral Commission (CNE). However, he did not rule out the use of the electoral organism’s machines.
At the same time, he praised the appointment of Omar Barboza as executive secretary of the Unitarian Platform, whom he described as a serious man, and who, apart from political management, consults with civil society, unions and academies.
In his speech, he warned that when the opposition chooses its candidate, “the scorpions are going to nominate a clown on each of the judicialized cards, that is why they are working and they are paying him.”
He pointed out that the unit does not allow dispersions and recalled the experience of 2017, when in July of that year, 21 opposition parties signed an agreement to elect the presidential candidate in primaries and, in addition, it was decided that if the candidate were elected, he would resign the re-election; but, finally, the agreement was violated.
“There were opposition organizations irresponsible enough not to accept the commitment assumed by all to choose the candidate in the primaries, because on that occasion the one who was going to win on the street was the AD candidate,” the leader asserted.
Among the organizations that signed the truncated agreement, he recalled, in addition to AD, were Primero Justicia (PJ), Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT), Voluntad Popular (VP), the Progressive Movement of Venezuela, La Causa R (LCR); Progressive Advanced, Alianza Al Bravo Pueblo, Vente Venezuela, and Proyecto Venezuela, among others.
For the Secretary General of the AD in resistance, who expressed that he was waiting for the moment to address his party and the country, he stressed that it is necessary to tell truths inside and outside, “because a good part of this tragic situation was the consequence of some acts of irresponsibility incurred by the opposition as a whole a few years ago».
Later, he clarified: “We do not walk with the rearview mirror (…) Now we have to work with more forces than ever for unity, so that the opposition candidate achieves victory.”
The adeco leader said that his party will fight for unity. He insisted that the next opposition government must be broad and united. He called not to play the opposition implosion. In addition, he questioned the opposition organizations that put objections to unity and insisted on calling for unity at all costs.
“I am seeing that there are some opposition organizations that sometimes act ‘involuntarily’ to favor the regime that are already putting buts in the opposition primaries,” he said.
The secretary affirmed, on the other hand, that although there is no date yet for the return of the negotiation to Mexico, they hope that the process will be resumed at any time.

AD chimbo
Henry Ramos Allup dismantled the arguments of the adeca wing to which the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) handed over the party card and headed by Bernabé Gutiérrez.
«Why is that judicialized card going to present a presidential candidate? To present a puppet who has no chance of winning, but they do it so that he can scratch some votes and the opposing candidate loses », he wielded.
The leader described the Gutiérrez sector as “chimbo AD” who, illegitimately, called internal elections for June 11 and who, he assured, works for the government of Nicolás Maduro. «The chimba leadership convened the National Steering Committee (CDN) chimbo».
With papers in hand, Henry Ramos Allup asserted that the last AD CDN was held in March 2010, when the modification of some statutes was approved. In November of that year, the party participated to the CNE about the realization of the CDN.
The Secretary General of the AD in resistance also asserted that the party held internal elections in March 2001, March 2006 and August 2009.
“If we had been a submissive management and willing to act like puppets, they would not have prosecuted us,” he asserted.
