The Dominican Popular Banktogether with the First Lady, Raquel Arbaje, in her role as president of the Cabinet for Children and Adolescents, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), inaugurated the renovated Presidente Ramón Cáceres park, as part of the project ” Recreational parks: from the industry to the community”.
The works carried out by Banco Popular implied an investment of more than RD$13 million, distributed in the improvement of the lighting system, the installation of efficient LED type lamps, the repair of the pavement, the creation of access ramps for people with disabilities and a children’s play area, which also included picnic tables for the family. Likewise, the financial organization installed a new signage system and was in charge of gardening and conservation of existing plants and trees.
To preserve the historical value of the urban space, maintenance was given and the sculpture of President Ramón Cáceres was relocated in the center of the central roundabout. The dome of this roundabout was replaced by a new one made of a transparent polycarbonate material, to allow the access of natural light, information plaques with historical references were created and a protection railing was built.

Energy contribution and promotion of reading
From its Moca branch, Banco Popular will provide the park with contingency energy in the event of a supply interruption.
In addition, he coordinated the installation of a book cart for a year, to promote the habit of reading among park users.
In this same order, the bank also contributed to the conservation of the Gabriel A. Morillo Municipal Library, painting its internal and external structure, changing the existing lamps and air conditioners for more efficient units.
Public-private partnership
During the opening ceremony, Mrs. Raquel Arbaje, First Lady of the Republic, valued the contribution of Popular and stressed its repeated support.
“The renovation of this park has given me an additional joy to the many that each of the recreational spaces that we deliver to the communities give me, and that is that on this occasion a book cart is included to encourage the love of reading. Reading is opening up to many worlds, living many lives, multiplying our dreams to infinity. I hope that our boys and girls take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity that Banco Popular puts in their hands,” she said.
Meanwhile, the MICM minister, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, explained that the essence of the “Recreational Park: from the industry to the community” program is that companies contribute, selflessly, for the construction or readaptation of parks in communities where they have some kind of incidence.
“With the delivery of this work, the MICM continues its role as a channel between industries, companies and communities, uniting wills to make this investment a reality by Banco Popular Dominicano, who had the support of the municipal authority of the area ”, indicated the official.
Mr. Christopher Paniagua, executive president of Popular, emphasized the bank’s performance as an exchange agent in favor of the construction of a society with a sustainable vision.
“The renovation of this park creates greater opportunities for the enjoyment of its neighbors, providing it with inclusive spaces for recreation and healthy recreation. It fills us with satisfaction to continue being an important ally of society, of its planned growth and, above all, of its people”, indicated the executive president of Popular.
Meanwhile, the engineer José Hernández, vice president of the Engineering and Maintenance Area of the financial organization, detailed the scope of the improvements made, indicating how the 4,556 square meters of the park were intervened in a record time of eight weeks, in addition to the improvements of the city library.
Shared value construction
As part of its responsible banking model, which aims at the sustainable development of the country, the Presidente Ramón Cáceres park is the second that Popular contributes to improve within the “Recreational parks: from industry to the community” program, after having intervened Boca Chica Central Park in August.
Additionally, it has also renovated the Mirador Sur, Las Praderas, Rosa Duarte and Villa Francisca parks in Santo Domingo, thus responding to the creation of shared value for the benefit of user communities, positively impacting their well-being and quality of life.
