The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, was appointed yesterday as president of the electricity sector, a decision that has been criticized by the engineer Ramón Alburquerque

Ramón Alburquerque: What will the vice president of electricity know to preside over the sector?

Santo Domingo.- The political leader Ramon Albuquerque criticized the appointment of Vice President Raquel Peña, as president of the Electrical Cabinet, on Tuesday night, by questioning the official’s knowledge of said sector.

“What will the vice president of electricity know to preside over the sector? Evil is not in the savannah, the crisis is expected to intensify due to the recurring mistakes made here and in relation to the war in Ukraine, “said Alburquerque on her Twitter account.

In a series of tweets, the former president of the Senate maintained that Peña’s new position, who has presided over other cabinets, shows his representation “not of the country, but of the oligarchic groups that control the presidency.”

Likewise, he expressed that now the government’s mistake is that the Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera, appointed as the head of the Health Cabinet, becomes his own boss.

Alburquerque took time to respond to some of the comments and in one of them he stated that: “The health cabinet does not exist constitutionally, the presidents are obliged to comply with the constitution, if they do not stand aside. The flow of authority is from the President to the Minister, the vice-presidency, it is a potential position without functions, in case the president is absent”.

Various supporters of the politician expressed their position regarding Alburqueque’s publications, arguing in favor and others against said comments.

Given the generated debate, he indicated that those who do not know the constitution believe that the President can do what seems good or correct, however, he must stick only to what is established by law.

He alleged that the government authorities, of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) to which he belongs, have not treated him as a friend; this before the comment of a follower that “with people like you you don’t need enemies”.
