The National Police removed the chief in the department of Amambay on Wednesday, one day after the shooting of radio journalist Alexander Álvarez.
The removal was announced by the commander of the National Police, Gilberto Fleitas, through a resolution, in which he also Commissioner Evert Constancio París is appointed to replace Rubén Paredes.
Álvarez, 40 years old and who was part of the Radio Urundey FM team, was attacked on Tuesday by a subject who shot him from a motorcycle while waiting in his vehicle for the traffic light to change.
The incident occurred on a street in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero.
The communicator, who was driving, was in the company of his brother.

Consulted by Monumental radio, the head of investigation in Amambay, Jorge Vidallet, explained that witnesses said a motorcyclist approached Álvarez’s car and opened fire.
The assailant, according to the testimonies, dropped the weapon after the first shot, picked it up and continued the attack.
In the place they found four vanillas, two of which hit the deceased’s head, Vidallet added.

This is the second attack against a journalist in Pedro Juan Caballero, after last September Humberto Coronel, from Radio Amambay, was shot at by a motorized vehicle in front of the station.
