Rainy weekend and electric shocks forecast for Nicaragua

More rains are expected for Nicaragua due to the entry of a tropical wave

The Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter) and the Observatory of Natural Phenomena (Ofena) foresee that this Friday, June 16, the fourth tropical wave will enter the national territory, which will cause heavy to moderate rains throughout the country.

Marcio Baca, director of Ineter Meteorology, explained that the rainfall forecast for this Friday in Nicaragua will last until Saturday, becoming moderate for this Sunday.

“In the Pacific region, partly sunny weather is forecast at times during the morning. However, light to moderate rain is expected in the afternoon, as well as strong thunderstorms. In the northern, central and Caribbean regions of the country, cloudy weather is forecast with light to moderate thunderstorms and heavy rain in various parts,” Baca said.

For his part, Agustín Moreira, director of Ofena, announced that three more tropical waves are approaching the national territory, which will be causing more rain in the country next week.

According to Ofena’s monitoring, more rains are expected in Nicaragua.

“For today, Friday, most of the tropical wave number four will be entering (the country) during the next 36 hours and we always have tropical wave number five, which is anticipated with a low pressure of 1009 millibars and two tropical waves, 6 and the 7 of the Atlantic towards the Lesser Antilles”, explained Moreira.

He predicted that as of noon this Friday there will be rains with electrical storms throughout the national territory. These conditions will persist until seven and eleven at night.

The director of Ofena also explained that the rainfall in the country will continue on Saturday, due to the departure of tropical wave number four; and he recommended that the population take precautions against heavy rains with electric shocks and gusts of strong winds.

«For Sunday we always maintain the influences of possibilities of some isolated light rains, being the greatest force of rains between one and four in the afternoon with rains with electrical storms in most of the national territory; clearing between six in the afternoon and ten at night, except for some heavy rains that we will have at night in the Caribbean of Nicaragua, “he added.
