Havana Cuba. – “I would like someone to help me and support me with my home problem”, asks before the cameras CubaNet Lionel Milán Alexander while pointing to the water accumulated inside his home due to the recent rains.
The arrival of the rainy season, says the man, brought “hell” to his life, because with the slightest downpour his house is completely flooded.
“Look at the situation of my bed, look how I have it,” he says while showing a wet bed.
According to Milan Alexander, his situation is “well” known to the municipal authorities, but the response has always been “that they don’t have the solution in their hands.”
The interviewee also showed CubaNet how he has lost the few belongings he owns, including electronic equipment. “Look at how my clothes got wet. The other fan that I had also got wet and got spoiled, I had to throw it away, and some other equipment like the rice cooker and the stove also got wet, ”she lamented.
Milan Alexander said he felt “desperate” in the midst of his housing situation and caring for a daughter who suffers from various illnesses. “I am not one to make noise, to form a group… What I simply want is for the situation in my house to be resolved and nothing else,” he said.
Lionel Milan Alexander’s home is located at Indaya, an irregular settlement in the capital’s municipality of Marianao. The property, like most of those that make up the town, was built below the level of the public road, which means that when it rains, the water runs off and penetrates the property.
“I have completed internationalist missions, and for that reason they have not been considerate of me. I know that the country has a very critical situation, but with what I am proposing it was already so that the problem I have was solved ”, concluded Milán Alexander.
