Civil Defense placed the entire city of São Paulo on alert for flooding due to the heavy rains that hit the capital late this afternoon (22). The alert was in effect until 6:40 pm, when the rain lost intensity.
The rains were more intense in the east zone, in the region of the Subprefecture of Aricanduva and Vila Formosa, where hail was even recorded. According to the Fire Department, there were 13 calls for falling trees in the capital and the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
The highest rainfall accumulated, reported the Civil Defense, were recorded in the western region of the metropolitan region of São Paulo, mainly in the municipalities of Itapecerica da Serra and Embu-Guaçu.
According to the São Paulo Climate Emergency Management Center, the rains were formed by areas of instability coming from the interior, formed by heat and the entry of sea breezes, which acted with moderate and strong intensity in the capital of São Paulo.
For the next few hours, informed the CGE, only light and isolated rains are expected, the night and early morning continue with no rain forecast.
In the rest of the state there was moderate or heavy rain mainly in the regions of Itapeva, Vale do Ribeira and Sorocaba, according to Civil Defense.
