Rains on September 1st caused flooding in parts of Caracas and other states

This Sunday’s rains caused several floods in Caracas and Falcón, where a woman was saved from dying trapped in her vehicle


The rains recorded this Sunday, September 1st in Caracas caused flooding in several sectors of the capital city, generating traffic chaos and problems in the communities; as well as in other entities of the national territory.

In addition to the damage to the electrical system, which left several areas of Caracas without electricity, flooding was reported near Macaracuay, where the water reached nearly waist-deep. Also in Petare, where a torrent of water was seen in zone six of the José Félix Ribas neighborhood, which swept away garbage from areas above.

In Macarao, the overflow of the cemetery ravine is reported. In the video uploaded to social networks, it can be seen that several vehicles are trapped in the water flow. Meanwhile, on the Pan-American Highway, the overflow of the Oveja Negra ravine was reported.

In addition to these effects, in the Baruta municipality, a tree was reported to have fallen on C2 street in Caurimare, causing material damage, including a vehicle.

Also, on the Los Naranjos climb towards El Hatillo, a tree was reported to have fallen onto the power lines in the area, causing material damage.

In Falcón, the rains also caused problems, where residents of Bariro, located in the municipality of Buchivacoa, reported the overflow of a river and flooding due to the heavy rainfall recorded in the last few hours.

In Cumarebo, a driver saved her life after clinging to a tree after her car was swept away by the current of the Cangilón stream.

When the clock was almost ticking 1:30 pm, The Venezuelan capital suffered power cuts again. Social media users and TalCual readers reported blackouts in Santa Monica, Cumbres de Curumo, Los Símbolos, Colinas de Bello Monte, Los Chaguaramos, La Boyera, Santa Inés, El Valle and La Bandera.

Sectors outside the Metropolitan Area such as Guarenas were also left without electricity.

In other parts of Caracas, such as La Pastora, there was a sharp power outage that did not interrupt service.

These rains, which caused damage, are recorded on the eve of the arrival of two tropical waves (34 and 35) in the next few hours. Number 34, which is going through Suriname, is moving west-northwest, generating rain and thunderstorms; the official indicated. Inameh and predicts that this low pressure system may evolve in the following days without representing a direct danger to the country.
