The intense rains recorded since the morning of October 12, as a result of tropical wave No. 43, have left at least 300 homes affected in the states of Aragua, Sucre and Mérida, according to local authorities.

In the state of Aragua, the municipalities of José Félix Ribas, Revenga and Libertador were affected. by precipitation. The La Victoria toll was also affected by the mud, but the road was cleared at dawn.

In the town of El Consejo, Revenga municipality, there were also damages to homes and premises; while in the Libertador municipality (Palo Negro), Mayor Gonzalo Díaz indicated that more than 100 homes were affected in the communities of La Quinta, 1 de Mayo, La Carrizalera and Santa Elena.

Similarly, in Cumaná, nine families in the Valle Verde sector of Caigüire suffered total damage to their homes as a result of a landslide on the Pan de Azúcar hill. Another 45 are at risk. Gonzalo Zapata, a resident of the area, said that most of the families, totaling about 29 people, suffered loss of belongings and appliances, but the most serious consequence is that they are sleeping outdoors, with mattresses that they hang out on the street.

While in the Mérida state, in the Obispo Ramos de Lora municipality, 23 homes, two commercial premises and two schools in the Santa Elena de Arenales sector were affected by the collapse of the roof, as a result of the rains and strong gusts of wind.

Mayor Luis Enrique Guillén confirmed the figure on his Twitter account. In addition to the structures, there were also trees falling in Plaza Bolívar due to hurricane-force winds. The Mayor’s Office carried out the removal of the trunks and branches.
