The advance of tropical wave No. 44 keeps at least seven states in the country on alert, according to estimates by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh). Four states have already registered damages, including Aragua, where three deaths were registered after the overflow of the El Castaño creek, located in the city of Maracay.
Inameh reported cloudy areas with probable scattered rains or drizzles in Zulia, Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo and east of Falcón; as well as showers and possible electrical activity in Carabobo, Cojedes, Aragua, Miranda and the Capital District.

In addition, the agency indicated that the formation of tropical cyclones is not expected in the next five days. Rains affect four municipalities of Mérida
Since the night of October 17, the rains in the state of Mérida caused damage. From the collapse of a bridge and the retaining wall of a house to the decision to suspend classes for 24 hours in the Libertador municipality.
Through social networks, Governor Jehyson Guzmán reported on the havoc caused by rainfall in at least four municipalities of Mérida (Rangel, Archbishop Chacón, Libertador and Campo Elías).
“In Libertador, La Pedregosa, we have homes evicted due to risk, this for the protection of families. Affectation of a house and the road; collapse of the bridge that leads to the Lomas de Los Maitines sector, because it was dragged by the water tributary. In Arzobispo Chacón, road damage due to material slippage, Merida Civil Protection personnel are deployed in the area providing immediate attention. Until now, thank God, there are no negative balances to regret in any of the affected sectors,” Guzmán published.
The collapse of the La Pedregosa bridge left 17 families incommunicado, while on the road that leads to Pueblos del Sur, vehicles were stuck between the water and the mud due to the flooding of the El Rinconcito creek.
For his part, the rector of the Universidad de Los Andes, Mario Bonucci, reported that classes were also suspended at the Mérida university.
131 families assisted in Anzoátegui
The mayor of the Cajigal municipality of Anzoátegui state, Nedymar Marcano, reported that they assisted 131 families affected by the flooding of the Unare and Güere rivers in the town of Onoto.
Marcano explained that food and medical care combos were delivered to those who reside in the communities of Ezequiel Zamora, La Pista, Acapulco, Brisas de Unare and El Bambú. In addition, the nursing home was set up as a refuge for the affected families.

Together with Civil Protection, the municipal authorities also assisted the population of San Lorenzo, belonging to the San Pablo parish, where they are cut off due to the collapse of the bridge that connects them with other sectors of the Cajigal municipality.
Mayor Marcano added that they will visit the communities of Quiripiche and Las Lagunas, where through a house-to-house journey they will evaluate the situations in which each family finds itself.
Three schools flooded in Guárico
Three educational institutions in the Monagas municipality, in the state of Guárico, were flooded as a result of a heavy downpour that began on Sunday night and continued until Monday, October 17.
Journalist Amanda Saldivia reported through her social networks that they had to evacuate students and staff from the Altagracia Educational Unit. The water level exceeded 20 centimeters in some areas of the campus, due to deficiencies in the drainage system.
The other two schools affected by the rains were Monseñor Sixto and Abelardo Méndez, from Camoruco, where water seeps through the roofs. At the moment school activities remain suspended and authorities are expected to inspect the institutions.
