Rains in Medellín leave homes flooded and belongings lost

Heavy rains left homes flooded in Altavista and Betania. Three houses had a total loss of belongings, with no injuries.

Relief agencies reported several emergencies in the city of Medellíndue to the heavy rainfall that shook the city in the last hours.

The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, reported the flooding of three homes in the Altavista townshipwhere a van vehicle was trapped when its driver tried to cross a ravine.

Through his X account, the official indicated that “In both cases there are no injuries. There is also a mass movement and damage to the Buga aqueduct. Our @AlcaldiadeMed technical team from @dagrdmedellin evaluates the ground conditions and the possible repercussions”.

Several homes affected by the rains in Medellín

Mayor Federico Gutiérrez reported another ten flooded homes in the Betania sector, commune 13 of Medellín. There, the fall of a wall in one of the homes, so it was necessary to activate a Dagrd technical team.

For his part, Carlos Quintero, director of Dagrd, took stock of the situation, indicating that three properties in commune 13 presented a total loss of their belongingsafter the overflowing of the Ana Díaz stream. Fortunately, No deaths or injuries reported despite the heavy rains.
