A Mazamorra covered the Las Mercedes community, in the municipality of La Asunta, in the north of the department of La Paz. This due to the intense rain that fell between Saturday night and Sunday morning. This Monday, there are still flooded homes and vehicles trapped in the mud.
Although the Neighbors tried to rescue what they had left, many of their things were trapped in the mud. That is why, even this Monday they continue to work tirelessly despite climatic conditions.
Through social networks, the magnitude of the disaster was known. In one of the videos a citizen is heard alert: “Look partners, at this moment she is taking him to the bathroom”, reflecting the despair of the people.
The community, alarmed by the magnitude of the emergency, They organized rapidly to ask the authorities for help. Basilio Basualdo, general secretary of the community, said that “an intense flood has entered. We need machinery, to collaborate.”
The situation is aggravated over time, since Mazamorra hinders both traffic and household accessand represents a health risk for affected families.
The residents also warned that by themselves they do not have the ability to remove the accumulated material and immediately request the presence of heavy machinery.
They ask that both the municipal government and the Government respond with concrete and rapid actions to prevent damage from extending or that new rains further aggravate the situation. While waiting for an answer, The community remains in a state of emergency.
