The intense rains recorded during the night of Thursday, January 15, have generated various emergencies in provinces of the Arequipa region, mainly in Condesuyos, La Unión and Caravelí, according to the report from the Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER).
EMERGENCIES
In the province of CondesuyosChichas district, landslides were reported in several road sections, affecting sectors such as Santa Rosa (200 m), Pijua (100 m), Santa Catalina (100 m) and the Chanchallay annex (60 m). The roads are interrupted due to falling stones and loose material, leaving the roads unavailable.
Although no damage to people’s lives or health has been reported, the emergency remains under permanent monitoring.
The most critical situation occurred in the province of The Unionwhere atraffic accident in the Huamanniyoc sectorCotahuasi district. A bus from the DAJOR-SUR company, license plate F5Q-966, went missing on Thursday afternoon, leaving three people dead and 22 injured, in addition to a still undetermined number of people missing.
Likewise, in the district of Quechuallaa avalanche on the Tillizpa – Mayo Sector route, in addition to 30 m of rock collapses and loose material. Also, landslide in the Chaupo ravine and the route to the Allancay annex, where the landslide reaches approximately 2 km, leaving vehicles and people stranded.
Regarding the damages reported in recent days, in the province of Castile9 km of roads were affected in several sectors such as Soro, Llanca, Ucuchachas, Kengo Moco and Choco.
In Caraveli50 m of roads affected in the Pueblo Viejo (Chala) sector, 2 km of roads damaged in Chaparra, 55 homes damaged and 5 uninhabitable. Likewise, 30 m from the AR-104 road, and a deceased person as a result of a vehicle being dragged through the avalanche.
Given this, the COER once again urged the authorities and the population to be alert and avoid risk areas.
