Also the Caliche – La Fría de Táchira route
The rainfall recorded in the last few hours in the northern area of Táchira (Ayacucho, Panamericano and García de Hevia municipalities), also caused damage to roads: the Pan-American highway that connects Caliche with the town of La Fría; collapse.
The Panamericana, known as the old highway, which connects the La Uracá, La Quintera and Palmichales sectors (Ayacucho municipality), were cut off after undermining the pavement and edge failures as a result of the rains; reported The nation.

The mayor of the Ayacucho municipality, Yonnhy Liscanowent to the affected areas to do an inspection and damage.
“We visited high sectors of the Caliche village, where there is a road edge failure, loss of footwear and active undermining in the affected area, at the moment there is a total closure of the road,” Liscano lamented.
He pointed out that a similar scenario is presented in the city of San Juan de Colón: «there is also edge failure, undermining and loss of the roadway on the main street, this is already several years old, but “right now” as a result of the rains has affected more”, said the first authority of Ayacucho.
Liscano, along with emergency and security personnel, asked the drivers who travel along the Panamericana between Michelena and Colón; They also stressed that drivers should “drive with caution”, follow the risks of landslides.
“There is also a risky passage between Colón and Michelena, where landslides have occurred, which is why caution should be asked to those who drive through the area and more so as the rains continue,” he said.
There is no machinery for emergencies due to rain
The mayor regretted that they do not have machinery to solve the failures that have occurred on different roads in the Ayacucho municipality, therefore, he called on the regional and national government, asking for support.
“We do not have the required machinery in the Ayacucho municipality, we make a call to the Táchira state government, and specifically to the presidency of the Republic, since they have the necessary resources to help buy machinery,” concluded the first authority.
