Rains and floods They have already affected 200 communities in six departments of the country and caused the death of 14 people, according to the report provided by the Vice Minister of Civil Defense, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, this Saturday.
“We have an impact in six departments, There were heavy rains in these departments, There is an impact in more than 40 municipalities, from the minimum to the maximum, we are talking about more than 200 communities,” he explained.
Due to the heavy rains, They recorded landslides and overflows of some rivers which caused the death of 14 people throughout the country.
“Obviously what is most worrying is that 14 people reported dead as a result of the intensity of the waters and the flooding of the rivers, as well as the lightning strikes that hit some people,” said Calvimontes.
The National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi) activated an orange alert in the departments of Tarija, Chuquisaca, Potosí, Cochabamba, Beni, Santa Cruz, Pando and La Paz due to rainfall with thunderstorms and possible overflowing of rivers.
A second alert was issued for level upgrades with possible overflows in the river basins La Paz, Catari, Jahuiras Kheto and Desaguadero, from the departments of La Paz and Oruro, to occur until December 27.
