One of the officials of the Electoral Justice, initially declared missing, was located safe and sound. However, there is no news about the other person so far.
Relatives of Hugo Martínez confirmed that he is at his home and that he left the Electoral Court before the fire started.
However, the official Anibal Ortiz is the one who is still missing. He would have been in the area where the fire started this Thursday at the headquarters of the Electoral Justice, located on Eusebio Ayala Avenue.
At a press conference, the intervening firefighters explained that gaps were opened in the burning building, but they still cannot enter due to the danger of collapse.
They also indicated that they are containing the flames so that other areas of the Electoral Justice building are not affected.
On the other hand, they stated that the affected structure will have to be demolished once the cooling works are finished, since it was practically unusable.
Preliminary reports indicate that some 8,500 voting machines would have been destroyed after the fire. They also indicate that there are suspicions that the fire could have been caused intentionally.
