lluvia provoca apagones

Rain unleashes blackouts in several states of the country

Citizens reported blackouts in Charallave, Bello Monte, Los Dos Caminos, Macaracuay, Sebucán, Petare, Santa Mónica, El Cafetal, among other sectors of the Caracas Metropolitan Area affected by heavy rain

A heavy rain hit the capital region of the country during the afternoon hours, which affected the worn-out national electrical system and caused power cuts in different sectors of the Capital District, Miranda, Vargas and Aragua.

Users on social networks reported having problems with the electricity service, to the point of trending the label “#SinLuz” on Twitter, mainly in sectors of Caracas.

El Hatillo, almost in its entirety, lost connection to the service, as the former coordinator of the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD), Jesús Torrealba, denounced:

“At 5:50 p.m. on Friday, several areas of El Hatillo were without power. Among others: El Cigarral, Av Sur de Los Naranjos, Altos de Los Guayabitos, Las Esmeraldas, La Boyera, Gavilán, Los Robles, Las Marías, El Calvario, Los Naranjos, La Unión, Portal del Hatillo and La Lagunita”, he published in Twitter.

Citizens reported power outages in Charallave, Bello Monte, Los Dos Caminos, Macaracuay, Sebucán, Petare, Santa Mónica, El Cafetal, among other sectors of the Caracas Metropolitan Area.

Some communities in Vargas and Aragua reported the same, also victims of the intense rain that fell in these states around 5:00 pm.

In other sectors there was no definitive interruption, but dips and “flickers” threatened to disconnect many other communities.
