Rain leaves one person dead in Uberlândia, in the Triângulo Mineiro

The Civil Defense of Minas Gerais confirmed, this Sunday (24), the death of a person as a result of the rains in the state. Several points on Avenida Rondon Pacheco were damaged, several cars were swept away by the flood, a wall collapsed and small landslides occurred. The situation is currently under control. “Electricity, water supply, internet and telephone services were not affected. There are no islanded communities or blocked highways”, says a statement from the entity.

In addition to the death recorded today, since September 22nd, 140 people have been left homeless and 293 have been evicted from their homes in 13 municipalities in Minas Gerais.

Civil Defense advises the population to sign up to the weather alert system. Simply send a text message (SMS) with the ZIP code of the desired location to number 40199.

Over the next 24 hours, the forecast is for overcast to cloudy skies, with rain showers and thunderstorms in the northwest, north and Vale do Jequitinhonha regions. In the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba and Central Mineira, the sky will be cloudy to partially cloudy, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. In other regions, the sky will be cloudy to partially cloudy, with the possibility of isolated rain in the regions of Rio Doce, Mucuri, Zona da Mata and Metropolitana.

Temperatures will remain stable, with a maximum of 32°C. The minimum will decline slightly, reaching 10°C. In Belo Horizonte, the forecast is for cloudy to partially cloudy skies, with the possibility of isolated rain. Temperatures will also remain stable in the capital, with a maximum of 27°C and a minimum of 15°C.

“The Civil Defense of Minas Gerais monitors all events associated with the rainy season and is ready to support municipalities in response actions, such as declaring an abnormal situation, distributing humanitarian aid, preparing work plans to raise funds for reconstruction, among other measures”, explained the agency.
