As part of an investigation into an arson attack recorded on July 6 in the Collipulli commune in the La Granja sector, the Investigative Police (PDI) arrested seven people in a raid that took place in five homes in the community Mapuche Wen Newen in the same locality.
It should be noted that in the instance that occurred earlier this month, at least 10 armed people held five forestry trucks and then proceeded to burn them. In addition, they intimidated the occupants of a truck that provided security services to Forestal Mininco.
The head of the Antinarcotics Prefecture of the southern zone, Fabián Castillo, gave the details of the operation.
“We focus on an event that occurred on July 6 in the Collipulli district where five trucks belonging to a forestry company in the region were burned, plus the theft of a truck that provided security for this company, which was recovered the same day,” he pointed.
“That is why the Collipulli Local Prosecutor’s Office issues an order to investigate the Anti-Narcotics and Organized Crime Brigade of Angol and from that moment, together with the same Prosecutor’s Office, proceedings have been carried out to establish and verify who participated in this illicit , obtaining an arrest warrant for six of the members of this criminal gang,” he added.
Regarding what was seized in the operation, Castillo pointed out that there were “12 weapons, 7 of them with handmade characteristics. Also two revolvers, a pistol and a conventional shotgun. We were also able to find drugs in significant quantities.”
Spokesperson Prosecutor Nelly Marabolí announced that “an extension of the detention will be requested with respect to the six people involved in these events. Mainly due to the large number of elements to be examined that were found in said homes.”
The Collipulli Guarantee Court accepted the request of the Prosecutor’s Office and extended until tomorrow the detention of the six people from the community accused of the arson attack recorded in the La Granja sector.
