Rafael Vela on Pedro Castillo: 'We believe that the National Prosecutor should investigate'

The coordinator of the money laundering prosecutors, considered that the National Prosecutor’s Office should open an investigation against the President of the Republic, after having sent reports with progress in the investigations that implicate the head of state.

In statements to RPP, the superior prosecutor explained that the most recent report they sent to the Nation’s prosecutor, Pablo Sánchez, was delivered last week. However, he assured that previous reports had been sent to his predecessor, Zoraida Ávalos, who decided to open an investigation but suspend the investigative acts until Pedro Castillo leaves office.

“It is an evaluation that the Nation’s prosecutor has to make with his deputies and his work team, but when we submit that report we have the interpretation that these are acts of criminal content that have to be investigated”he stated.

Having reported the presumption of criminal acts, we have the interpretation that should open an investigation”asserted the superior prosecutor.

Karelim López is an effective collaborator

Rafael Vela assured that the office of prosecutor Luz Taquire, who is in charge of the case involving Karelim López, has advanced with the corroboration of the criminal acts mentioned in his testimony and pointed out that the information has been delivered to the various prosecutors. who are in charge of other cases involving people like Bruno Pacheco and the nephews of Pedro Castillo.

“(Karelim López) has provided a lot of information on many cases […] It is delivering information that the prosecution has to process with all the limitations they have. We have strengthened Dr. Taquire’s office and this has allowed her to find all the sources of information that the collaborator herself must refer to”narrowed down
