Mariana González wondered why there was so much evil against her husband Rafael Tudares, whom she has not been able to see since he was arbitrarily detained. He sent a letter to the Episcopal Conference in which he asked for their help
Rafael Tudares Bracho, son-in-law of Edmundo González Urrutia, arbitrarily detained on January 7, remains isolated.
Through a message on social networks this Saturday, October 11, his wife, Mariana González, denounced that there is cruelty against Tudares Bracho, who served 277 days in prison.
«These days, several detainees have been able to receive visits from their families after months. I don’t. Why so much cruelty? “Why so much evil against Rafael?” González asked himself.
Gonzalez published a letter sent to the Episcopal Conference in which she explained that they have not received proof of life nor have they had access to any communication with her husband. He pointed out that they have not been allowed to give him medicine and personal hygiene items and they are denied information about his real whereabouts.
In the letter, Rafael Tudares’ wife asked the Catholic Church for help to intercede. Specifically, he raised five points:
1. Pastoral accompaniment to the family and, if possible, a visit or pastoral management with the authorities that allows the situation of Rafael Tudares to be confirmed.
2. A public statement from the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference in favor of the rights to life, physical integrity and due process, urging that her whereabouts and condition be reported, and that all forms of incommunication with her cease.
3. Arrangements so that your medical treatment is received and administered and you are allowed access to the basic items you require, without obstacles.
4. Call for their defense to be guaranteed and national and international humanitarian standards related to the protection of persons deprived of liberty to be respected.
5. Prayer and spiritual accompaniment for his children, who need the closeness of their father and the embrace of his Church.
Rafael Tudares was arrested on January 7 and presented to court on February 20. He was charged with the same crimes as Edmundo González as an accomplice. To date, the place of confinement is unknown.
