Rafael Rodríguez, president of the Association of Naturalized Residents of Panama (ARENA), spoke this morning on Radio Panama about the situation of Venezuelan migrants stranded in Panama.
“Right now they have lost that spirit, there is a group looking for a way to get out of Panama and another about how to stay here, because having that dream that they were going to arrive, they sold their houses, their belongings and lost everything in Venezuela, for what today they have nothing or where to stay there, “he said.
He stated that this crisis is worrying, not only because of what is seen in the media, but also because of what is seen on the streets.
He indicated that so far they are calm, but that a way out of the situation should be found, because desperation could lead them to do any type of activity that could be regretted.
Regarding the decision made by the United States regarding Migration, he explained that it has come as a surprise. “This has brought a domino effect from Mexico to Panama. In Mexico they took out more than 20 thousand people and on the other hand, we see some who are in Costa Rica and are going here.
