Rafael Ramírez Colina's wife affirmed that there are no elements to keep him imprisoned

Rafael Ramírez Colina’s wife affirmed that the mayor has worked for the communities since the first day of his administration that began in 2021. She said that he is an honest and hard-working person

Vanessa Linares de Ramirez, wife of the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez Colina, rejected this Thursday, October 3, the arbitrary detention of the mayor and repudiated the accusations of alleged corruption that are being brought against him. In his opinion, he should not be behind bars and there is no reason to keep him detained.

From the Maracaibo Mayor’s Office, Linares de Ramírez pointed out that since he was elected in 2021, the mayor began to work for the communities despite an “absurd budget” left by the previous administration, dedicating himself to cleaning of the streets and attend to any eventuality when it arises.

He affirmed that the citizens know him and know that Rafael Ramírez Colina is a person who demonstrates his commitment with actions and that he is honest, hard-working “and a father of a family who only wants to bequeath his good reputation to his children.”

He pointed out that they want to accuse him, along with his work team, for no reason; Therefore, he demanded his immediate release in accordance with the constitutional principles that govern the country. However, he expressed his concern about the situation currently experienced in the Maracaibo Mayor’s Office, since they are affected by the arbitrary detention measure.

“This is not for corruption, but for the mayor’s office,” he noted and said that it was done “to put an end to an emerging political leader who today enjoys popular support,” he stressed.

The Bolivarian National Intelligence Service detained the mayor of Maracaibo (Zulia state), Rafael Ramírez Colina, his security director and other workers on the night of Tuesday, October 1st.

According to the Versión Final media outlet, Ramírez Colina was detained at the mayor’s offices in Villa Carmen, Bellavista Avenue, along with the general director of the Mayor’s Office, Betty Ramos, the general director of Citizen Security, David Barroso, and two bodyguards.
