The leader of Renovación Popular and mayor of Lima, Rafael Lopez Aliagastated that if the president Dina Boluarte “He is not capable of pacifying the country, he should resign, because what happens in Peru does not happen anywhere in the world,” he said, alluding to the protests in which roads have been blocked and activities paralyzed in different regions of the country.
In an interview with RPP, López Aliaga commented that the head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces has set a two-month period to pacify the country. When asked then if that is the term that he would give the president, however, he avoided giving a concrete answer.
“I have listened for two months, it is what the head of the Joint Command himself has said, he could not set deadlines for anyone, it would be very arrogant; I have listened to the person in charge of pacifying (the country) who has set a two-month deadline, I will wait for that deadline to pronounce myself, ”he said.

The Popular Renovation leader, meanwhile, supported the position of his parliamentary bench that opposes the advancement of general elections.
He alleged that various constitutionalists, among whom he mentioned Enrique Ghersi, Ernesto Blume and Domingo García Belaunde, have indicated that the position of congressman cannot be waived. When it was pointed out to him, however, that in this case it is not a question of a resignation but of an early election, he replied that this would apply to the next Congress and not to the current one.
”The one who has entered has a duty and a right to finish his term because he cannot be waived. Before giving an opinion, I ask, I go to the people who know more than me, ”he said.
