The mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliaga, said that he is not afraid of protests and that he will come to the Puno region as many times as he deems appropriate. It was after the rejection of a group of residents of Juliaca that he came to participate in the start of the activities of the Solidarity Hospital in this city.
“It is an honour for me to be inaugurating a new solidarity hospital in Juliaca at the request of the local authorities, who have gone to Lima…we are not afraid of people like this, little groups that have screwed up…I am going to come to Puno as many times as I want, it is my land, my mother’s land…” he expressed during a meeting with his supporters.
The leader of Popular Renewal arrived at a polyclinic located on the second block of Jirón Raúl Porras, where the aforementioned hospital will operate temporarily, at approximately 6 p.m.
REJECTION
Dozens of people gathered at the entrance of the establishment, holding signs in their hands, rejecting the presence of the former presidential candidate. López Aliaga, upon arriving at the area, tried to greet the residents, but was rejected. One person threw a liquid, apparently urine.
Despite the large number of police officers, some women tried to enter the premises where the metropolitan mayor was. They accused López Aliaga of having allowed repression of demonstrators in Lima during the protests against the government of Dina Boluarte.
The mayor of Lima remained at the clinic for more than two hours, as residents continued to protest in the street. Under heavy police guard, he left the premises at approximately 8:20 p.m.
The protest was also against the mayor of Juliaca, Óscar Cáceres Rodríguez, who had to leave the establishment in camouflage. In addition, they harangued politicians such as Margarita Sucari (former congresswoman) and Javier Bernal, who aspire to participate in the next elections for Renovación Popular.
