The mayor of Lima, Rafaél López Aliaga, congratulated prosecutor José Domingo Pérez for requesting the suspension of the Yellow Line toll as part of the investigation against Susana Villarán for allegedlyreceive illegal contributions from the Brazilian company Odebrecht and OASduring his campaign. “First I want to make a mention. I want to congratulate… I have criticized prosecutor Pérez a lot, but today you want to congratulate him. Why? Because he is, let’s say, doing justice,” said the mayor during a interview on Channel N.
“I cannot be mean when a person acts according to law. I at this moment I have to cover my mouth and tell you, sir, you are acting well,” were the words of López Aliaga, who added that the Municipality of Lima had requested – a year ago – the prosecutor José Domingo Pérez, and also to Judge Chávez Tamariz, to suspend toll collections ‘for being corrupt’.
Finally, the mayor of Lima said that “before such clear evidence, worldwide, of a corrupt mayor“, prosecutor Domingo Pérez ‘is acting well.’ In addition, Rafael López Aliga expressed that he would like to attend the hearing of this case scheduled for November 21because he has arguments that he presented before the Constitutional Court and in whose ruling he indicates that tolls cannot be collected in North Lima.
“In the request of prosecutor Pérez, whom I congratulate again because you have to be Hidalgo in these cases, he appoints the Municipality of Lima as judicial administrator, but we are not going to charge anything, we are going to obey what Judge Chá says. ¡Vez Tamariz”, pointed out the municipal authority.
