Rafael Cigarrista: “We are reinforcing ship registration compliance”

Rafael Cigarrista, national director of the Merchant Marine of the Panama Maritime Authority, explains about the inclusion of Panama in the gray list of the Paris Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

“We have canceled ships for having relations with Iran, for being involved in illegal fishing, for entering countries sanctioned by the United Nations, we in this administration, in this registry purification process, have had around 678-690 ships canceled throughout our management for a matter of international compliance, the bad actors must be removed but complying with Panamanian legislation, “explained Cigarrista.
