Radical Party joins the PPD and resolves to prioritize two lists for Constitutional Council elections

The General Council of the Radical Party (PR) has resolved to prioritize two lists for the constitutional electoral contest. The highest instance of the ruling party resolved by majority to prioritize an alliance with Democratic Socialism and related forces, with the aim of reaching electoral pacts to increase the spectrum of support of the forces that support the government.

This Saturday, its General Council set certain political guidelines, for the purpose of determining the Electoral Pact that will integrate the community, with a view to the election of constitutional councilors. In this regard, they seek to materialize a pact that is made up of a list of candidates belonging to official parties such as the PPD, the PS and the Liberal Party, in addition to the Christian Democracy or another party that is not part of the opposition to the current Government. , as well as independent candidates.

Supporting the determination to contest the election of councilors on two lists of the government alliance, the president of the Radical Party, Leonardo Cubillos, assured that “this first step will allow increasing social support and the electorate for the platform of the present Government, and continue after May 7, on the deep path of the social transformations that we are promoting”.

In this regard, the PR helmsman added that “the party feels comforted by this position, and we especially call on the PS, the Liberal Party and the PPD, to build an alliance within Democratic Socialism, precisely projecting this coordination and this pact towards the We believe that it is the best thing that can happen to the country, in the fight to get that vote of the center, so elusive for the current government, but which was part of the center left in those 30 years that the Concertación was in charge of the country “.

This is a new call for the rearticulation of the forces that coexisted in the Concertación project, after the pro-government voices in favor of the empowerment of Democratic Socialism within the Government, and the recent intention of the president of the DC, Alberto Undurraga, to to revive an alliance with parties such as the PS, the PPD, and a Radical Party that, however, agreed this Saturday to take the precaution of not signing a pact with the party in formation Demócratas or Amarillos, or admitting candidacies from said movements on its list.
